Right to freedom is widely recognized as a fundamental human right. It encompasses several aspects, including:
1. Freedom of Speech and Expression: The right to express one's ideas and opinions without fear of government retaliation or censorship.
2. Freedom of Assembly: The right to gather peacefully and collectively express, promote, pursue, and defend common interests.
3. Freedom of Religion: The right to practice any religion or none at all, and to change one’s religion or beliefs.
4. Freedom from Arbitrary Detention: Protection against being detained or imprisoned without just cause or due process.
5. Freedom of Movement: The right to move freely within one’s own country and to leave and return to it.
These freedoms are essential for individual dignity and democracy and are enshrined in various international documents, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). They form the bedrock of many democratic societies and are protected by laws and constitutions around the world.
